Tpo that end he serves as vice president of North Fort Myers Babe Ruth Baseball.

Carrousel Carpets is located at 1903 N. Tamiami Trail.

Carrousel opened in 1997, with Del Dorrington and John McNeal as owners. Zambuto moved to Florida from New Jersey in 2009 and started working as the only installer for a company.

That was for good reason: There was very little work during the housing crisis.

"It was dead. I was working for a guy for $10 an hour and knew more than he did. I was doing anything to get by. I almost moved back to New Jersey about 10 times," Zambuto said. "Then I met my wife."

When time came to sell the business, Zambuto was deemed the right person to keep the company going and bring into the next level after the economy got back on track.

Mickey does much the installation of the floors himself, with one other crew doing other work, while Danielle mans the store while looking after the three boys who seem to enjoy working with their parents.

Many flooring companies have diversified their offerings, and Zambuto does that with carpets, laminates and tile with an attention to detail.

Nothing gets by them and they will make it perfect regardless if it was their mistake or not, he said.

"We want the customer to keep smiling throughout the entire process. Almost anything we can put on a floor, we have," Zambuto said. "Some of the appearances on the vinyl products make it look like real marble. The technology of flooring has come a long way."

Zambuto said because of their location about 90 percent of their business is within the retirement communities. He said products like waterproof laminates work great because of the moisture and humidity.

Zambuto said they have teamed with a tile company to work with their products as well. This will help them get more business in the north Cape as tile isn't always the best thing for manufactured homes.

"Many of those homes have particle board flooring. It all depends on what you have underneath. We hope the development in the northern Cape we can get that market," Zambuto said.

Carrousel Carpets is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with appointments Saturday or late in the day.
